Daylight saving time officially begins at 2:00 AM, Sunday, March 11. That’s right, if you haven’t marked your calendars yet, make sure to spring forward with the rest of us; we’ve made it through winter’s darkest days! Sure, that means it’ll be a bit darker when we’re getting ready for work on Monday morning, but that’s a small price to pay for the extended hours of daylight. What will you do with yours?

Though it’s still a bit longer before we’ll be cooking dinner on the grill and lounging poolside, that doesn’t mean you have to pack it in after work. Not when the light is calling you out. Instead, look around for some of the great happy hours or special events scheduled in and around Bolingbrook for a bit of weeknight delight. Fatty Magoo’s features 1/2 price appetizers, plus different drink specials each night of the week, and Bar Louie’s half-priced flatbreads are always a hit—so is the quick walk to find your way home!

If you’re not won over on a weeknight out, the extended daylight will still be there to usher you into a host of weekend temptations. You’re apt to notice it if you head for Small Plates, Cheese, Charcuterie, & Wine at 6:30 PM on Saturday. Vita Sana hosts a laid-back night of wine and food pairings, plus good company for all. If you’re more brewery than vineyard, look to Alter Brewing Company instead. They’ll be hosting a Beer & Cheese Social from 4:00-10:00 PM that same night. The brewery features a range of special events throughout the year (including this Sunday’s Seinfeld Trivia night), so if you can’t make it this weekend, explore their calendar for future, fun happenings.

Comfort and comforting food is out there and easy to find, with new experiences offered every night of the week. Now that we’ve got a little more light and (fingers crossed) time on our side, it’s time to throw back those curtains and see what’s out there. Get exploring and have a taste for yourself!

Weekend Happenings

It might still be another weekend away, but shamrock lovers rejoice: St Patrick’s Day is already being celebrated in and around the area. A quick trip to Naperville can have you curbside for their St. Patrick’s Day Parade this Saturday morning, or lace up those running shoes and head over at 8:00 AM to take staring line of their St. Paddy’s 5K.

Whether you’re celebrating with your Irish pals, getting the kids (or pup) out of the house, or just doing something for yourself, enjoy a whole host of options as spring takes early hold on Bolingbrook and beyond:
